Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
Objectives: Designing of infrastructure such as water distribution systems, pumping stations, dams, treatment plants, civil engineers need to understand both fluid statics, and dynamic. The goals of the experiments include determination of forces generated when fluid flow takes place over a solid object, impact of jet on flat plate or curved vane and also determining roughness coefficients, velocity distribution in open channel flow, study of hydraulic jump.
Context: This course will provide students a basic understanding of flow measurements using various types of flow measuring devices, calibration associated with these devices including analysis, understanding and applications of tilting flumes, wind tunnel, hydraulic turbines and also pumps.
Equipment: This lab equipped with Wind Tunnel Apparatus, Tilting Flume Apparatus & Impact of jet apparatus.
