What is POSH Act, 2013?
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) is a law enacted by the Government of India to ensure a safe, secure, and dignified working environment for women.
It protects women against sexual harassment at the workplace and provides a mechanism for redressal of complaints.
What is SHe-Box?
SHe-Box (Sexual Harassment electronic Box) is an online complaint management system launched by the Government of India.
It allows women to:
- File complaints of sexual harassment at workplace
- Track the status of their complaint
- Ensure timely action by authorities

Who can file a complaint?
- Any woman (employee, student, intern, visitor)
- Whether working in organized or unorganized sector
- Including contractual or temporary workers
What constitutes Sexual Harassment?
Sexual harassment includes (but is not limited to):
- Unwelcome physical contact or advances
- Demand/request for sexual favors
- Sexually colored remarks
- Showing pornography
- Any unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct
Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
As per POSH Act, every institution must have an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).
Roles of ICC:
- Receive complaints of sexual harassment
- Conduct inquiry in a fair and confidential manner
- Recommend appropriate action
How to File a Complaint
